The weekly theme above focused on building with tools used by carpenters. The children were introduced to select toy tools and how to use them. They also used the play tools to build with styrofoam and golf tees. Receptive and expressive language, and motor skills were facilitated. Group and individual responses were solicited, reinforced and corrected as appropriate. In this learning activity the children were involved in interesting and fun things to do, think, and talk about. This is an example of an adult directed instructional activity.
Demonstration teaching provided faculty with opportunities to model practices introduced in course lectures.
